I have to write a report addressing Social, Political, and Economical issues in Disney's Aladdin. I've watched the film numerous times, and I can not find the political issue. What are the political issues addressed in Disney's Aladdin?
Could political be that it is seen as unfit for a woman to rule without a man by her side? That a man is needed to be Sultan in their world despite the fact they have a beautiful, able Princess like Jasmine to rule? It might also be found political at how their system of government works. They have a Sultan who serves as King, a Queen, and an adviser. But we don't see anything about them having a system like Britain's Parliament or our Congress. Not to mention how easily the Sultan can change the law without objection, to have Jasmine marry Jafar and to allow Jasmine to wed Aladdin even though he's not a Prince. Plus, a duh, they have a monarchy in Agrabah, unlike our own system of election for President. Responsibility to rule is automatically passed to the offspring of the current ruler. And maybe it's somehow political how easily Aladdin could pass off as a Prince, with little education and simply the appearance of a Prince and the illusion of wealth, something that maybe in their society automatically represents royalty.
Trust me, it took some time to come up with this answer, all from my head! I love Aladdin (Kinda the character, mostly the movie, but the most Jasmine! She's my favorite Disney Princess!) and I've also seen it a lot of times. Hope this helped! What are the political issues addressed in Disney's Aladdin?
The only thing I can think of is how the movie is kind of a rip off of the masterpiece "The Thief and the Cobbler". There have been many times when people say that it's the other way around, but "Thief" came first. That's the only thing I can really think of! Hope this helps! What are the political issues addressed in Disney's Aladdin?
In the song Arabian nights theres a line that says something like "if you steal our bread well cut of your hand" or something like that which was taken offensively to some middle eastern people
also the fact that Jasmine had to be married to be Queen
