Why is it cheaper to stay in a Walt Disney Resort in Summer than in the early Spring?

I was planning a vacation to Disney for a week in August for this year, but decided to move it to next March. It is almost $1000 more to do the exact same thing next in March.

I want to know why that is.Why is it cheaper to stay in a Walt Disney Resort in Summer than in the early Spring?
its all about the economics.

schools typically have spring break sometime between mid march and mid april which means A LOT of people are going to go on vacations to disney world during that time. disney has to make their room rates higher cuz there is sooooo much demand but a limited hotel room supply.

now august is a fairly crowded time but nothing like spring break time so there is less demand and more supply so disney can lower the room rates to get more people to stay on property.
The weather is more desirable in March. Too damn hot in August so not many people go and to intise people they lower the price. Best time to go where there is no lines for anything is a week before Christmas...the place is a ghost town. May is also a good time...not to hot and most places kids are still in school and spring/winter breaks are over so it is slow time. Why is it cheaper to stay in a Walt Disney Resort in Summer than in the early Spring?
I would think its because of the heat and humidity in Florida in the summer. I just cannot imagine wanting to wait in those lines under those conditions.
March is the beginning of spring break time. There is also Atlanta Braves Spring Training going on at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The weather is also more desirable. In August kids are getting ready to go back to school, or are in school, depending on when you are going. Parents aren't as likely to be taking them on vacation a week before school. Additionally, the weather is hot and humid. Why is it cheaper to stay in a Walt Disney Resort in Summer than in the early Spring?
Several reasons.

March:

Spring break.

Less rain.

Warm but not hot.

August:

Hot and humid.

Every day rain.

Hurricane season.

Most schools start by the 3rd week.

I would wait till October to see what offers will be available.
Some periods of summer are also at the top price level such as Memorial Day week, 4th of July week and Labor Day week. Holiday rates and spring break rates are about the same. Your Aug week was likely booked during regular season rates. Your March week falls during spring break rates.
Disney has different season such as:

Value Season, Regular Season, Summer Season, Holiday Season, and Peak Season.

So, it's cheaper to go at certain times of the year.

March is Peak Season, which is the second most expensive time to go. The Holiday Season starting on 12/17 of this year is the most expensive.

August is one of the cheapest times to go. It's Value Season. Probably because it's very very hot in August and Disney is trying to get people to go down there.

From 11/28-12/16 is also Value Season and one of the best times to go.
