I'm planning a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando but I'll have to bring my dog. Are there any pet friendly rooms or resorts? I've only been able to find the camp ground but I do not want to camp. Any help would be great. Thanks! Are there any pet friendly hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort other than the camp ground?
The other answers are correct ~ especially You Asked's answers.
We used the WDW onsite Best Friends Pet Care to board our chihuahua and were very happy with them. Vet records that show up to date shots must be presented.
They will walk your dog twice a day ~ they ask that you please visit and walk your dog as well. That was no problem for us ~ we wanted to make sure she was okay and let her get extra exercise.
You can pay more and the kennel attendants will give additional walks and play with you pup.
I was very pleased with the kennel. The staff were so friendly. The kennels are spotless and of course it is air conditioned. The kennels are located in WDW areas that are near the Theme Parks. We used the one that is located just to the left of Epcot's entrance. One reason was that it was close to Port Orleans Riverside where we stayed. There are plenty of grassy areas to walk your dog and even benches nearby so you can take a break.

I hate leaving my Chi behind. My last WDW visit I rented a pet friendly home through Vacation Rentals by Owner. http://www.vrbo.com/123231 We enjoyed the home and my pup loved the extra time we spent with her. She also loved laying out next to the pool thats on a screened lanai ~ so did I.
You are correct. The only place on Disney property that you can have your pet with you is in your own private camping vehicle at Fort Wilderness Campground. Dogs (and cats) are not allowed in the tent camping loops, so you will have to own an RV/trailer to have your pet there. The vehicle your pet will be staying in is required to have Air Conditioning, so you can't bring him and leave him in your van all day... they will get the dog out.
With all of that being said there are kennels scattered around Disney property (one at the campground and one at the Ticket and Transportation Center as well as others). They are unmonitored at night; although you will get a phone number when dropping your animal off in case you need access to them in the middle of the night. Also, the only time your dog is exercised (let out of the cage) is when you come and take them out... which may mean frequent visits to the kennel when you could be spending time in the parks.
I love my animals and I love Disney... but they don't work well together. Leave your dog behind with a trusted friend, relative, pet sitter or kennel. You both will be much happier. Are there any pet friendly hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort other than the camp ground?
I'm there a few times a year and I'm pretty sure the answer is no. Fort Wilderness Campgrounds are your only options. If you have a service dog, that might be different. If you stay off property I'm sure you'll have lots of other options, and Disney Parks have kennels so you won't have to leave fluffy behind during the day... but you will be responsible for walking your dog 2x (I think) during the day. More info on the kennels can be found at www.allearsnet.com for pet friendly hotel ideas you may want to consider purchasing the AAA Traveling with Pets book. Good luck and HAVE FUN!!
There are a lot of hotels on International dr. that allow dogs, since the convention center is there and there's a lot of dog shows that are held there.
But, I don't think your dog is going to be happy staying in a room all day by him or herself...Are there any pet friendly hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort other than the camp ground?
The camp ground is the only Disney owned resort that allows dogs. However Disney does have kennels that you can put your dog in. At the kennel's you can visit your dog.
Here's a little more information:

No, they have a kennel where you can leave them.
It'd be better to leave them at a kennel near home though.
Good question...I would like to find out too
