If you can afford it I would go with either the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Fort Wilderness or the Polynesian. All are WONDERFUL for kids with great themes and tons of stuff to do.
My personal favorite is the Lodge but I also love animals so sitting on a balcony in a rocking chair watching giraffe walk by is great. But if your kids are not big on animals then it might not be the place for you.
The pools, gift shops, rooms, food are also great at all of them so you really cannot go wrong. The best advice I can give is look over their resorts and find what your family would enjoy the most as far as theme.
I would also suggest you look into the meal plan (one snack, one quick serve, one sit down) as it is a huge savings. It costs a little over $40 a day for adults and less for kids (sorry forget the exact kid cost). The 18th month old would of course be free. It sounds like a ton per day but you have to factor in what it offers. A snack is anything under $8 which I am sure your kids or even you will want throughout the day, can be a drink, slice of pizza, ice cream, carrots and ranch... the list goes on and on. With a quick serve most range from $10 to $15 and offer stuff like a drink, salad, pizza and snack. With the sit downs you really get your savings since some of the meals can cost more than your entire days plan. Last year my husband and I ate at the Coral Reef and our bill came to more than both of our meal plans combined for the day. The savings add up really fast. You can also use them in any order you want and for whoever you want. For example if there is a day where you do not want your snack then that frees up an extra snack for someone else. It is also a great way to afford the character meals which I am sure your kids will love.
Have a great time and if you need dining suggestions email me.
If budget is no issue, I would suggest a hotel on the monorail like The Contemporary or Polynesian. That convenience will be so nice for you will small children.
Every hotel will have transportation to wherever you want to go, so really only the monorail hotels will provide any advantage there. They will all get you to all the parks.
Every hotel is also kid-friendly. It's Disney, there will be kids everywhere. They all have pools, too, so it kind of depends on what you are looking for there.
I would suggest that you check out all the resorts with pictures and reviews here: http://www.allearsnet.com It's my favorite planning website, and I think it will help you. What is the best disney resort for young kids?
Well I hate to put it this way because I know you want a specific resort but honestly EVERY Disney Resort is great for kids of all ages. A couple of great benefits of staying at a disney resort is that you have free transportation to all the parks and downtown disney, you can take advantage of Extra Magic Hours which lets you get in early or stay late to the parks and you can take advantage of the Dining plan which will save you bundle on food. Disney has made it so easy that all you have to do is choose your price range you want spend and then chose the theme you would like.
A personal favorite is the moderate resort Port Orleans Riverside. I love staying in the grand mansions on the riverbank, The old man island theme pool is fun, I also love taking the boat to downtown disney. Its just a wonderful resort.
There is also the Beach Club resort. The best thing about it the pool, Storm along Bay. This is hands down the BEST pool at WDW. A standard room has 2 queens, but you can ask for a room with a day bed as well, and a crib. You can take a boat to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, or walk. Also, you can take a boat to Epcot then the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. I love the Beach Club, and there are also Villas, (expensive but really nice!). The Beach Club is also nearby the BoardWalk.
Polynesian is the another good resort. Each standard room has 2 queen beds and 1 day bed, plus you can get a crib if need be. This resort is on the monorail (which you can ride to MK or Epcot), and you can get views of the Magic Kingdom.
In case you have a smaller budget, the best Value Resort is Pop Century. The pool is average, nothing fancy, and each room has 2 double beds and you can get a crib. You would need to take a bus to all 4 theme parks.
Enjoy Your Trip!!!What is the best disney resort for young kids?
The Beach Club/Yacht Club resorts (right next door to each other) are walking distance to Epcot and Disney Hollywood Studios. I've been told that their pool is the best on Disney property and that it is like a miniature water park.
POP Century. Or if you got the cash Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge.
This Is the usual question when it comes to disney, which hotel? Well from asking questions and doing research I think that if budget is not an issue, The Boardwalk Inn would be the best place. This hotel has everything kids would love including a circus-like theme , midway games, a 24 hour playground and Luna park pool where there are elephant statues spraying water and a 200 ft. "roller coaster" slide. Also this resort caters to adult needs as well, including a Health Club. For more visit: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts鈥?/a>
So if money is an issue, you could try any of the moderate resorts or value. The value are all pretty much the same. If your children like movies go to All Star Movies. If your children like music go to All Star Music. If your children LOVE sports go to All Star Sports. If your children like a little bit of everything try Pop Century. The values all have fairly nice pools and exquisite decorations (for best decorations go to Pop). The rooms are just OK, but for the price they're pretty nice. The food courts good but really expensive so get the meal plan and eat there and A LOT nicer restaurants (try some character meals, your kids will love them). For more info on Values go here:http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/hotels/
If you want something nicer than a value, but cheaper than a deluxe, try the moderate resorts. The moderate resorts are all very wonderful! If you want a really great pool try The Caribbean Beach Resort, this pool has a pirate themed pool, complete with cannons and "crumbling" towers. The rooms are great there, just a long walk if you get a far away room. If you want a resort that has the luxuries of the deluxe but the price of a moderate try Coronado Springs Resort and Spa. This resort has a really great pool, great rooms and a good sit-down restaurant. This resort is the most well rounded and is also really kid friendly with a water slide (all moderates have them) and a playground. The rooms are like those of a deluxe, most likely the best of all moderates! If you like the old timely feel go to either of the Port Orleans! The great thing about these twin hotels is that you can access the restaurants and pools of both of them, no matter which your staying at. So if you pick these, pick for the rooms and not for the extras because you can use the amenities of the (for instance) Riverside while your staying at the French Quarter. These hotels are really nice and kid friendly! For more info on Moderates go here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/hotels/
Any hotel at Disney is "kid friendly" but i just gave you my choices of the best ones. All together i would avoid the Cabins At Fort Wilderness %26lt; just some important info there ;) Have a magical time!!
