How was your trip to Disney World?

I am planning on booking a trip to Disney world with my wife and 9 year old boy and 2 14 year old girls.

1.We are wondering if there are any families of 5 out there that can tell us approximetly how much your trip costed?

2. What your favorite thing you did there?

3. Favorite restraunt?

4. Tell me about the weather?

5. Anything else you would like me to know!:) Thanksya! How was your trip to Disney World?
1) We're a family of 4 and our trip with resort, tickets, meal plan, souvenirs, travel and everything cost around $5,000. BUT we also stayed for about 2 weeks. Most people do not stay that long, so your vacation will likely be cheaper unless you are staying at a more expensive resort. We stayed at All Star Movies during "value season" so we had the cheapest rates at one of the cheapest resorts.

2) It's pretty tough to pick our favorite thing about Disney. Everything about Disney is enjoyable. If I had to pick, I would say that my favorite thing we did that week was the "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party." If you are going during a season when there are special events being held, it is a must-do! But everything about Disney is great. We loved having a terrific meal every time we ate (we were on the deluxe dining plan), and there was something for everyone at each park. Our favorite "adult" rides were Test Track (Epcot), Expedition Everest and Dinosaur (Animal Kingdom) and Rockin Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror (Disney Hollywood Studios). The best night show in our opinion is "Fantasmic" at Disney Hollywood Studios. But even hanging out at the resort was a lot of fun. Everything about Disney is fun!

3) Kona in the Polynesian resort was our favorite restaurant.

4) We went in late September/early October so the weather was still warm enough to enjoy the pool at the resort, but not miserably hot in the parks. It was perfect.

5) Other advice: Definitely sign up for the meal plan and stay on Disney property. Buy a copy of the Passporter's guide to Disney. It's an extravagant planner based on everything in Disney World. It really helped me put a great trip together for my family. How was your trip to Disney World?
To get the very best deal not only on going to Disney World but just about any vacation, I highly recommend that you look into My Vacation Expert because they will get you the very best deal. We take at least 2 vacations a year and they are who we go through they are amazing!

The cost varies greatly depending on WHEN you go. You can use the free vacation planner on Disney's website to put in different dates and hotels and ticket options to get several quotes for free. You can spend $2000-$10000, so you really need to play around with your dates and options yourself.

Same thing on the weather. WHEN makes all the difference. Hard to answer otherwise.

You can stay on property and use Disney's free transportation system and never need to rent a car. You can stay off-property and rent a house or villa and save a lot of money on food, but you'll need a car. If you are going to stay at Disney and therefore are going to be eating all your meals there, you will almost definitely save money with a dining plan. All the details are on their website - there are different plans you can buy. All sit-down restaurants require advance reservations. We are a family of 5... we are very budget conscious and live near Orlando %26amp; have Disney annual passes.

We go for a weekend or a few days sometimes, so to keep costs down we just camp out at Disney's Fort Wilderness. We set up 2 pop tents w/our air mattresses on 1 tent site, each site has electric %26amp; cable hook ups so we bring little TVs, lanterns, there are bbq grills %26amp; tables and the comfort stations are pretty luxurious for a campground, as are the pools/jacuzzi. It's georgeous, too, if you like camping and have the gear this can be a great option.

But one tent site can be some times of year under $50 per night, that is the absolute best bargain you are going to find in Disney.

Plus you get access to extra magic hours, free parking pass, free Disney transportation, etc and all the perks of staying at a Disney resort.

Other than that, for a budget, go to the family suites at Disney's All-star Music hotel.

It really pays to stay on Disney property. If you don't, include extra money for gas, wasted time traveling and an extra $15 per day to get in and park at Disney world, and you will be paying almost as much to stay off property usually in a pretty seedy place.

The weather varies-- it can be very hot from June- Sept, like in the 90s, which can be uncomfortable considering all the crowds up till August and the really long lines. And it rains a lot.

Best times to go are Sept/Oct or January/Feb for low crowds, and Oct, Jan %26amp; Feb the weather is much nicer--you don't have to fight crowds-- many things you can walk right on, the characters have more time to goof around with you, it's pretty great. About 70s usually, though there can always be a little cold snap or heat wave. Who knows.

Favorite restaraunt is actually the cheap buffets outside of Disney. We go for a big buffet breakfast before we go to the parks. In the parks, we go to one of the cheap restaraunts for an early dinner, like Pinocchios Village Haus in Magic Kingdom, it is cheaper and we're not big on fancy, expensive meals. Just bring a few snacks with you.

Tip: get maps ahead of time and plan out your priority spots, and take advantages of Fast Passes.
