What was your experience at Disney World bringing a 1 year old and also dealing w/ the heat?

This trip is not an option, so we have to bring our 9 year old and 14 month old to Disney. I'm feeling concerned about how this will go. Do babies sleep well while being pushed in a stroller in a noisy environment? How to deal with the heat? Will a water bottle and rag (for sponge downs) work? My baby doesn't walk yet, so he's going to be restless sitting all day. Maybe I'm worrying too much - hopefully it will be ok?What was your experience at Disney World bringing a 1 year old and also dealing w/ the heat?
When you have infants in a stroller it is far hotter than walking around. The biggest threat to infants in sunburn. Infants and smaller children can burn in 15 minutes or less in the Orlando sun. Sunburns and/or sun poising can be life treatening. My peditrician said sunburn prevention is very, very, important in Orlando. Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen. Not the sprays they are not safe for babies. You can buy at Target or Walmart (or Disney but Target and Walmart are cheaper) battery operated fans with spray bottles of water attached. They are less than ten dollars. Buy one. Also, all the child needs to wear is a onesie (short sleeved) a pair of socks, and a loose blanket. Babies don't need layering in warm temperatures. Also, socks and a recieving blanket can be easily kicked off if baby gets too hot. I recommend the blanket because sometimes they get cold when going into an air conditioned environment from the hot sun. As for naps they may sleep they may not. You may want to schedule a nap back at the hotel room in the middle of the day if at all possible. If you can afford it hire a babysitter for the little one do it. I use Sunshine Babysitting they are very reputible in the Orlando area and will come out to hotels if requested.
Take breaks...and in the afternoon, let another family member take the 9 old alone and you and the baby stay in the air conditioned hotel or a nap. This trip is obviously not for your benefit or for the baby...so you 2 need to rest, not over stress yourself and the baby. don't make a fuss about it, just calmly say you and the baby are returning to the hotel for a couple of hours to rest. The 9 yr old can have time with Dad or grandma or whoever is going also. What was your experience at Disney World bringing a 1 year old and also dealing w/ the heat?
Our daughter was 4 when we first went to WDW, but I've seen lots of people take younger children. Just keep your son hydrated %26amp; shaded. A rag for sponge downs are helpful. It's best to have a stroller that reclines, so he can nap. Take breaks in a shady spot or go to the pool. Our daughter took naps along the way. It worked out fine. I wouldn't worry. Have fun!
I see lots of kids sleeping in stroller at Disney. They rent double strollers with shade covers. It is best not to come in the summer if that is an option. What was your experience at Disney World bringing a 1 year old and also dealing w/ the heat?
Your concerns are valid. Smart of you to seek experienced advise prior to the fact.

We have 3-kids. Lived in Orl for many yrs. All of them have attended the parks, even when they were babies/todds, in the sticky %26amp; scorching weather. Regardless how well you plan, how perfect your baby's demeanor might be, it well be a challenge, but not one that is beyond you.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of good advise. Here's mine...

Bring-alongs:

%26gt; Simple umbrella stroller w/canopy. Strollers that have too much cushion are simply too hot (doesn't "breathe"). Make sure you "personalize" the stroller so you can differentiate yours vs. others. Take baby off of stroller as much as reasonably possible.

%26gt; Insulated water bottle (Disney's fountains are refrigerated).

%26gt; Sippy cup.

%26gt; "Security" toy, or whatever (but must be replaceable).

%26gt; Rag.

%26gt; Spray fan. One that can be used with/without water. Xtra batteries.

%26gt; Map/brochure that can be used to fan baby.

%26gt; Baby sunblock.

%26gt; Sunglasses/cap, if baby is accustomed.

%26gt; Cotton attire. Xtra change of clothes. NO new clothes that haven't been broken in.

%26gt; Sandals.

%26gt; Lotsa patience %26amp; realistic expectations.

To-Do's:

%26gt; Take advantage of baby-exhange in queues.

%26gt; More diaper changes than normal.

%26gt; Take advantage of big water fans @ each attraction.

%26gt; Take advantage of any kiddie area that has water.

%26gt; Afternoon naps back @ hotel.

Misc:

%26gt; Baby's can sleep through just about anything, as long as the ambient noise or physical motion is continuous.

%26gt; Keep it fair. Other adults should share in caring. You shouldn't be left w/the entire "burden".
What heat? I went in February and nearly froze to death.
