My friends and I are planning a trip to disney for next May, and are having a hard time picking out which resort to stay in. We don't want to spend a lot on the room, but the value resorts seem a bit crowded. We are looking for a resort that isn't BAM! disney, but still want to have a bit of fun! The contemporary resort seems perfect, but a bit too much? When is the cheapest time to go?Which disney resort is the best for 4 college students? When is it the cheapest?
There are so many great Resort in Disney. I loved staying in the resorts around Epcot while I was in college, either the Boardwalk or Beach Club - we would "drink around the world sampling a drink in each country. There is an entrance to Epcot's countries within walking distance. If not I would stay at a Disney Moderate Resort. Look at Port Orleans French Quarter, it has a boat to downtown disney. I have a wonderful Disney Travel agent - she has saved me money and would be able to give you exact $ amounts. She also does a lot with group rates, when I asked I know she had several blocks of rooms held for 2012 but not sure of which dates. If you would like, email me and I will get you her contact info!
if you're looking into value resorts:
The BEST value resort to stay at Pop Century! I have stayed there alot and it is pretty perfect for its price. It's a huge resort, and it has a lot of room. It's beautifully themed, however, it's pretty BAM!disney themed :).
moderate resorts:
the cheapest one is usually Port Orleans Riverside OR French quarter. they are really cute, and big, and also there's alot to do there, it's very calm. My favorite to stay at is the French Quarter cause the rooms are in these "country mansions" and they are adorable.
Carribean Beach resort is another GREAT one. i stayed there a while back and it was REALLY pretty! and it's prices aren't too bad either!
deluxe resorts:
the Contemporary is pretty amazing, even though it can run up a high bill. But it's so different from the other resorts, and you have monorail transportation which is pretty cool! This one is one of my favorites. I visit it often for dining purposes and shopping, but i have never stayed. Everything there is pretty amazing, including the pools. If you're willing to spend a little more, then this would be my pick!
HAVE FUN :)Which disney resort is the best for 4 college students? When is it the cheapest?
There are resorts and hotels just off Disney property that are way cheaper.
But also the Embassy suites hotels are off property and they don't cost a lot. They have free shuttles to all the parks. Plus, I think, a shuttle to and from the airport. Plus they have free breakfast and free drinks at night.
I would stay outside the Disney property, its cheaper and very close to Disney.Which disney resort is the best for 4 college students? When is it the cheapest?
If you want to stay in the Contemporary, ask to stay in the Garden wing. These have the cheapest prices with all the perks of still being in the middle of all the action. You won't have the monorail running right underneath you and will have to walk a little further to the restaurants in the Contemporary, but you'll still be in the same luxury resort with close proximity to Magic Kingdom, the Polynesian resort and Grand Floridian resort. These places all have great shopping and restaurants/ bars inside so you would have a great time. Go during Disney's "value season" when the prices are cheapest---it's during Disney's slowest times of year. This usually means September, October, the end of January and beginning of February. But look it up on Disney's website for exact dates. For every resort, Disney will show the rates for all of the price seasons if you scroll to the season of your choice. Do a little research and go during the right time and you could get a great deal during a not crowded time of year.
Me, my husband and kids stayed in one of the All Star resorts during value season in September/October. We got a great deal and loved it, but it wouldn't have been my choice when I was in college. As a college kid, I would choose one of the places in walking distance to Epcot (Beach Club, Yacht Club, or Boardwalk) because of the night life there, or maybe one of the resorts that are close to Downtown Disney. I think you can take a boat to Downtown Disney from Port Orleans (a moderately priced resort) and maybe Saratoga Springs?
The Contemporary is also a great choice since it is walking distance to Magic Kingdom. It has restaurants and shopping right there in the resort. You also have monorail access to Epcot, and to the Polynesian and Grand Floridian resorts, which also have great restaurants and shopping.
Try to steer clear of the value resorts that are packed with families and go at least for a moderately priced resort that is next to some of the bars, restaurants and shopping. And definitely go during value season to skip the crowds and higher rates.
