What is a perfect 1 week schedule to be spent at disneyworld and surrounding disney theme parks?

1st of all, is disney's blizzard beach open during the winter? (december- january)



How many days should be spent at each of the 4 theme parks (5 including the waterpark) if im spending 8 days there?



Finally is Coronado and Swan good hotels to stay at?What is a perfect 1 week schedule to be spent at disneyworld and surrounding disney theme parks?
Ok in the christmas period normally both water parks are open but in off peak periods such as maybe january normally only one waterpark is open. So i'll assume one water park is open in my plan. First of all, I have always found one day is enough for most parks to see most of the things that you want to unless you have a big group that wants to see almost everything from kiddy rides to big coasters.



Day 1 - Sea World

Normally a great start to a holiday in Florida not the biggest theme park but has great shows and a couple of rides in the big coaster Kracken and the spectacular water ride / roller coaster journey to atlantis. Overall a good park but doesn't take more than half a day.



Day 2 - Epcot

Another not so wild park but this is the biggest park in disney so if you like everything here it may take quite a while however there aren't that many rides here so no ques for the main part of the park which is the world showcase, a really cool place but I suggest coming back here on one night for a meal at on of the countries restraunts. Other than this there is all the future things that are good to look at and then soarin a great hanglide ride through california, test track - a classic brilliant ride and mission space which could make you feel a little sick but it is great fun.



Day 3 - Magic Kingdom

The main park which is "magical" for any age not just kids and the rides are brilliant. Too many rides to describe but the main big rides are splash mountain a big log flume, space mountain not a massive coaster but it is in the dark a really great ride, thunder mountain a smaller rollercoaster and is quite fun. There are tons of other rides for kids and adults but it's better to ride them than me describe.



Day 4 - Water Park

Half way through, time for a bit of relaxation. Sure there are big scary slides but you can relax as much as you want on a sunbed away from the crowds of the theme parks. Blizzard beach has tons of slides big and small. Typhoon lagoon has some great slides too but this is all about the massive wave pool, massive waves over 6ft crash ever minute from the front in the deep end and slowly get smaller towards the shallow end so it is great for any age or ability of swimmer.



Day 5 - Animal Kingdom

A brilliant park full of animal exhibitions which you could watch for hours and the safari is brilliant probably better that the real thing if you love the animals, excitement without travelling to africa and no mosquitos, you see all the animals you need to and they are kept brilliant with a little story line to the ride to (I won't spoil it). Expedition everest is a fantastic rollercoaster in search of the yeti, just fantastic. Dinosaur is also underestimated and is one of my favourite rides exciting to the last second, kali river rapids and so much more.



Day 6 - MGM

Slightly more adult park all about the movies. Two brilliant thrill rides in disney worlds only upside-down ride the rock n rollercoaster starring aerosmith where you beat the traffic in a stretch limo (fantastic) also there is one of my favourites the tower of terror. One of the best build-ups ever and you feel so scared before you shoot up. Theres other things like the star wars simulator, muppets 3D and the great movie ride are all great.



Day 6 - Islands of adventure

Universal studios newest park and it shows in the brilliance of this place. My favourite theme park in the world, two great rollercoasters in the hulk and dueling dragons where you really thing you will crash with the other coaster. Then probably the best engineered ride in florida with the amazing adventure of spiderman which is a mix of a simulator, moving ride and 3D just brilliant and so realistic. Then the three water rides in dudley doo rights ripsaw falls which is a really fun log flume, then popeyes ride which you get soaked! then the brilliant jurassic park where the dinosaurs look real and it's a great tour until you go off course... So much more it is a great park along with the Seuss landings kids area.



Day 8 - Universal Studios

To finish off a brilliant park but slightly more relaxed, the rollercoaster the revenge of the mummy is brilliant an indoor dark coaster and jaws a tranquil boat ride until jaws comes along. Men in black is superb, shoot the aliens. Simpsons might be open in time for you which should be good and then Shrek 4D, Terminator2 3D and Jimmy neutrons nicktoon blast are all brilliant. Along with the woody woodpecker kids zone complete with the ET ride and a kids coaster it is a great park.



If this is too much for you always take on of the parks away I would suggest sea world then move everything forward making a rest day around day 5. Coranado and Swan are both great hotels, the swan is right on the monorail track for the magic kingdom which is handy but unless you rent a car it can be hard to get to other parks unless they are disney.

Depends on the time of year that you go. One day at each park is good. If you go in winter or late fall, you won't need the pools. May not even be open. Make sure you as a parent schedule a day off after the first couple of days. you ll need it. You should take a day to visit Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center. Worth the drive in the rental car. Both hotels are great, the Coronado would get my vote.

As to how to divide the days that is hard to answer not knowing the ages and interest of the vacationers.

Each of the following recommendations are minimums, hitting the highligths only.



For the young children: Character Meals, and autographs are a must

Magic Kingdom would take two or more days

Animal Kingdom one day or less

MGM one day

Epcot half a day



For teens: Rides and Shows

Magic Kingdom two days

MGM two days

Animal Kingdom one and a half days

Epcot one and a half days



Adults: Rides, Shows, Shopping

Magic Kingdom: one and a half days

MGM: two days

Animal Kingdom: half to whole day

Epcot: two days

Downtown Disney: one day one night



Family must dos: Fantasmic, Honey, We Shrunk the Audience, It's Tough to be a Bug, Splash Mountain, Mickey's Phillharmagic, The Great Movie Ride, Beauty and the Beast
They always have one of their two water parks open while the other gets the seasonal rehab. Though in the cooler months you aren't there to 'cool off' but to just enjoy the slides.



If you get the 'parkhopper' option scheduling days isn't as important since you have the option of leaving the park you are in 'if you've seen enough' and go to another one.



As far as time in each park, much has to do with when you are going and how crowded it is. AVOID CHRISTMAS VACATION!!!! And if you like to 'repeat' attractions or if once is enough.



Epcot %26amp; the Animal Kingdom have the most variables, you can either just breeze through them or be totally immersed and end up spending a lot of time there. And if you are a 'foodie' that could get you to spend even more time in Epcot (or at the top hotel restaurants like Califorina Grill or Citricos).



As far as hotels:



I've stayed at Coronado twice and am doing it again this year for most of the trip.... it's probably my favorite hotel that I've stayed at... It's their only moderate convention hotel, which means for the same money that you would spend at Carribean or Port Orleans you get more perks (like a health club) and less kids. And it's nicely spread out, but not spread out too much. (If you request 'water view' you seem to increase the odds of being close to the main building). And I'm a fan of the restaurant there, Maya Grill (I get the duck with mole sauce)...



The Swan isn't run by Disney directly. Which means some perks (like purchases in the parks delivered to your hotel) aren't available, but you might be able to score a good sized discount through priceline.com. I've never stayed there, but I eat at Kimonos every year (if you like sushi I'd definitely recommend a stop there, you don't have to stay at the hotel to eat there, and you can just walk in). From what I've seen of the insides (lobby, etc) it has much less of the 'disney' feel but more like a regular upper class hotel. And you can walk to Epcot from there (though a far walk) the Studios (an even farther walk) and to the Boardwalk.

first about your hotels. Coronado Springs is a terrific hotel and very quite. The tallest building there is 3 stories, so it feels very intimate and relaxed.



As far as a schedule goes, I personally do not recommend listening to someone Else's favorite things to do! Go to WDW and just explore the parks on your own.



Be surprised, be amazed. Let the magic capture you and just kind of go with the flow.



You should make dinner reservations. I say this 1. because if you don't you won't be able to enjoy a lot of the full service dinning locations, but 2. it will help guide your vacation.



So first read about the restaurants and decide where you want to eat, make reservations at those places, and then just fill the time in between with unique and serendipitous adventures!
I went to Orlando/Magic Kingdom in July, spent 8 day there.

Walt Disney World, definitely

Animal Kingdom, Definitely

MGM, Don't bother

Universal Studios, Definitely (not a part of the Magic Kingdom)

Sea World, Yep (not a part of the magic Kingdom)

Blizzard Beach, Oh yeah!! Open all year long.

Gulf Coast, Clearwater, spend the day, we saw a wild Manatee, live starfish, Stingray, Jelly Fish, and much more. Not to mention the gorgeous beach.

Sound like a full week. It was.

We didn't stay at a Hotel, we rented a 4 bedroom home/with a heated pool, 20 minutes from Orlando, for much less; will not stay in the Kingdom, too expensive and not worth the hassle.

Rent a car, stay away from the kingdom, both your choices of hotels are at the lower end of the rooms. Meaning, Super 8 with higher prices......

No the water parks are not open during the winter so I wouldnt even bother getting the water park option ticket. if you go to http://www.waltdisneyworld.com it tells you the schedule for Blizzard Beach when you bring it down under the parks tab.



If you are spending 8 days there I would spend 2 days at Magic Kingdom (its huge) because there are so many attractions, 2 days at Epcot for the same reasons, 1 day at MGM, 1 day at Animal Kingdom and one day to go to Downtown Disney or one of the outside parks. I recommend Sea World. The shark encounter is awesome as well as the killer whale shows.



Coronado and the Swan are excellent hotels to stay at. I know for a fact that Coronado has its own spa and the rooms are beautifully decorated as well as the Swans rooms. You can see some great pics of the rooms and the views from the rooms at this website: http://www.allears.net
